HAVEN is a 501(c)3 organization. The word HAVEN is derived from the prefix meaning a place offering favorable opportunities or conditions, which inspired HAVEN acronym. HAVEN encourages students to think out the box, making the choice to live a healthy and morally upright lifestyle with an emphasis on community empowerment.
Haven establishes a safe environment which helps youths and adults develop a sense of purpose, boost self-esteem, build skills for success, and be empowered to make a difference in their community
HAVEN strives to empower youths and adults to find their strength; giving them the ability to say no to drug and alcohol use, physical and sexual abuse, succumbing to peer pressure. HAVEN believes there is an extreme and powerful difference between knowledge and illiteracy. Nearly everyone understands that poverty and illiteracy have negative consequences, but poverty and illiteracy is not hereditary but a choice. Giving a person a choice means giving them power and opportunity, which is why, HAVEN chooses to go beyond just acquiring knowledge but instead focuses on how to use your knowledge through the power of choice and influence so that individuals are able to withstand traditional peer pressure to make their own moral choices.
